Meet The Doctors
Dr. Brent Douglas
Dr. Douglas obtained his Science degree from the University of Alberta. Dr. Douglas then moved to Vancouver and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1999. To enhance his education he then completed a General Practice Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Following two years in Toronto Dr. Douglas completed three years specialty training at the University of Manitoba to become a Certified Specialist in Orthodontics.
Dr. Brent Douglas has taught Graduate and Undergraduate Orthodontics at two Universities. He specializes in facially based treatment planning and teaches and mentors many study clubs on Orthodontic techniques. Dr. Douglas is a Kois certified Orthodontic Specialist (an advanced area of study in dentistry).
Dr. Douglas believes in using the latest technology when treating patients. He doesn’t utilize one appliance or system; he uses all the latest orthodontic techniques, matching the system to the patients’ needs. with either a clear aligner system (ie. Invisalign), lingual braces, clear damon braces or Insignia, a completely customized digital bracket system.”
Dr. Douglas maintains his education through memberships in the Canadian and American Associations of Orthodontists as well as the Canadian Dental Association, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists and the BC Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Douglas is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, an honour granted only to those dental specialists who write and pass an examination in their specialty, in this case, Orthodontics.
Dr. Douglas and his wife, Tricia, have two young daughters, Lily and Sage. When not busy with his family, Dr. Douglas enjoys golfing, biking and snowboarding.
Dr. Negar Salimi
Negar Salimi received her dental degree from Azad University in Tehran, Iran and went on to work as a general practitioner with a focus on pediatric dentistry. She completed a PhD in Orthodontics at the University of British Columbia and joined Ocean Orthodontics as an Associate in 2018. Dr. Salimi has done extensive research on cleft lip and palate deformities at BC Children’s Hospital. She lives with her son in downtown Vancouver and regularly spends time with family on the North Shore.
